he
Perseid Meteor shower peaks tonight. Meteors (approx. 10 per hour) will become
visible in the northern sky starting around 9pm and gradually move overhead of
us and peak around 2:30am or so, at a rate of a meteor a minute tonight. It's
not uncommon to see none for a couple of minutes and then see half a dozen or so
zoom by at once. The new moon (no moonlight) tonight will provide perfect
conditions for viewing. Let's hope skies are clear.
Went
and picked Huckleberries today. If you are lucky to have them in your area, it
is well worth the search for them to pick. Even in rain and thunderstorms!
I am going to make jam and syrup out of these ones collected today.
Picture Above: Mmmmmm Huckleberries
Picture Below: I was sitting on a log picking and took a picture of the distant mountains, though you have to look close. They look to be part of the clouds.

If you have some near you, make the classic..
Huckleberry Pie
3 cups Fresh or frozen huckleberries (Ok, you can use blueberries)
1 cup Sugar, (scant)
1/2 tsp. Almond extract
1 cup Grated apple
2 tbsp. Flour
1 Dash of salt
Pastry for double crust pie
Measure ingredients into a two-quart mixing bowl and mix well. Pour into unbaked
pie shell. Cover with top crust and bake @ 375 degrees for about one hour or
until nicely browned. Makes one 9" pie.
