ain, rain, fog, rain. Isn't there something wrong with this picture? It is too early to start "Break Up".

I forgot to tell you guys about the other night. The bear dog "Cyrus" was barking his fool head off for the longest time and then the rest of the dogs started in. My boyfriend went out the front door to yell at the dogs to shush up and there was a little fox sitting on our porch. My boyfriend and the fox looked at each other for a second or two until the fox just melted off into the darkness. In the morning, we had moose tracks all over our 'front yard'. So it was a busy freeway through here that night.

A squirrel has also taken over residence of the front porch and knaws on the woodpecker suet. I figure the woodpecker is not using it, although Oregon Junco's have started arriving as a few days ago. It is nice to see song birds again.

Amy and I ordered chicks and poults yesterday. I am getting 20 turkeys this year and she is getting 50 Buff Cochins. They are coming in April 17th. I think we are brooding them at her house this year, since her poultry facilities will be empty and I still have 3 turkeys in my pen/brooder house. They are not the breeds I wanted, but I can get some of the other later. I ordered Broad Breasted Bronze and Nickolas Whites (which in my opinion are hybrids), but my guy wanted a few white birds and they were the only ones available. I do have a pair of the Broad Breasted Bronze and though it is against my principals, I am going to try to AI (artificially inseminate) them this year as practice for larger animals. At the vet clinics I have helped with AI-ing dogs and horses, so ....I want to give it a try. I need to contact that lady and see if she is bringing in any birds from that other hatchery. They have the Slates and Bourbon Reds that I want. I did have the opportunity to get my Silver Laced Wyandottes, but I chose not to order 5 of them. I may kick myself later.
