ell,
yesterday I was thinking spring
must be here or soon.. although we have had blizzards, freezing rain and many
other other seemingly tantrums of Mother Nature, who is not quite ready to give
up the ghost of winter. I said this as we got 4 eggs from our hens yesterday.
Yippee! I knew as soon as I bought 60 eggs from the store, they would start
laying. Yes.. I do not go shopping often, so I do buy that many eggs at a time.
I had alot of baking and waffle making to do for the boy's breakfasts and
lunches.
But this morning we woke up to a good snowfall coming down. It is not that cold, but the white stuff is sure coming down. "Daisy" almost got up by herself yesterday, but she got herself on some glare ice and she skinned her knee pretty badly from abrasion on it. I was happier and not happier she decided to park herself against the 1,200 pound new bale of grass hay we just set out.
We may have babies on the
ground soon. "Tractor" was kicking at her belly and hanging away from
the
other cattle the last couple days, but she came up to eat this morning when
I fed. I am glad that they may calve out on the fresh snow. It makes it much
better than the calves being born in mud. Which is what happens if "Break
Up" happens first.
Picture above: "Tractor" the cow. (No we did not name her.)
