was really hot the last couple days, not much of a slow introduction from the
chilly weather. It is so much colder this year than last year. We were having
raging forest fires at this time last July and we were on the edge of the
evacuation zone half prepared to leave in a couple hours notice. It has been so
cold, my 45 day corn is not even knee high yet.
Today I will spend most of my day dealing with water as I am sure I will have to water the animals twice today, do the greenhouse, the new side yard grass, the flower beds and the garden. I have not been able to get into the garden as much as I would have liked either due to too wet to walk in there from the weather, time constraints or fleeing from Mosquitoes. The last few days I have been trying to get a row weeded per day out there in the mornings. I also got the rest of our 'lawn' cut. I like having the driveway and around the house to look spiffy. The tomatoes and peppers in the greenhouse are blooming and starting to set fruit.
Yesterday Amy and I worked on projects for an upcoming event we are going to, and which will be a project in the Autumn issue of DTTR. Amy likes hers so well that she will utilize hers in her house year round. We made a huge mess on the front porch with sawdust from miter saws, jigsaws and drills, but it was the only place which offered shade and a level working area on concrete. I like working with alot of tools. We both got to see firsthand Amy's "Patience is not in her vocabulary", as she took a moderate sized rock to her project we were working on to make it fit .....and therefore we had to shorten and rework the wood after it cracked and the mortise broke off. Ahhhh Amy..
Haying has started all around us. We ordered 25 bales from the man we normally order from. I need to check Mary's fields today and see what stage their grass is in and if it is ready to cut. I also need to go over there to see if we can get some milk out of "Mudbog" today or if we are still stranded without a milk cow.
I accidentally left my camera in my truck which my guy has at their semi-truck shoppe so he can leave his big truck there for the weekends. I failed to take my camera out when he left with it, so it may be a few days before I get to blog with pictures again.
