t is sort of odd living in a small town sometimes. Everything which has happened anywhere locally is usually on the radio. It is strange hearing of your friend's death on the radio every few minutes. They did not release names, but you knew.. after a few times of hearing it, I turned the radio off and drove my truck in silence.. thinking..

In the last couple days, I have been pondering life and death. I think if you make a difference in someone's life or many peoples lives, you are missed more when you are gone and leave a bigger hole in the lives of those who remain behind. This hole, in a way, this is a tribute to your life. It means you made a difference, somehow, somewhere, to somebody. Even if it is only to one person. Go out and make a difference today...

woke up yesterday morning to make and put together in a kit, which consisted of a lucet and a magazine (Spring 2007) as a gift. A lady came by our Farmer's market booth and asked if I could make such a kit for her as a gift for someone. So I got it done and delivered it to her yesterday morning, then went and looked at a tractor with Mary. I got some nice pictures of different horse drawn equipment.

I have been talking with a lady from the Society for Preservation of Poultry Antiquities about turkeys and she gave me the name of a man who might know what these 'chocolate' sorta poults we have are. I talked to him and then send him pictures last night and hopefully he will let us know later today.

It has been raining like mad for 2 days now. So it has got the garden slowing down again. My "Yukon Supreme" 45 day sweet corn was planted around June 1st and it is not even knee high yet. It will probably turn out to be 90 day corn, but the heat units are not where they need to be for them to grow.

We have an old beat up car here. The kids used it for "Boonie-Bashing" and then not knowing what they were doing, pulled the distributor cap off and disconnected all the wires. We cannot find the firing order for it. It had various problems with it anyway before we got it and a guy I know collects cars and then has a crusher come out. He was supposed to be here last night to pick it up. I fell asleep on the couch after dinner and woke up just in time to see him drive out the driveway, without the car. He didn't knock or anything!! I tear down the driveway barefoot with the mud squishing between my toes out to the road. He apparently failed to look in his rear view mirror. I waited barefoot on the road for some minutes hoping he would turn around and look for addresses and he didn't. I left a couple messages but will call him at his work again today. The car and a couple more odds and ends which I can deal with myself ... and we will have NO JUNK left on the place! Which is a far cry from all the debris which was here when we moved here. In fact there was so much garbage here, that in 10 years of this place being for sale, the people we talked to who had looked at it, never even got out of their vehicle when they came to look at the place.

went over to Amy's to go help on her chicken house and pens. Her birds are gaining size and were outgrowing their baby pen. The second we got the new door cut and the flashing put on the roof, the heavens opened up and we were sopping wet. The chickens also did not know how to get in their new door yet, so we were running around trying to catch them and stuff them through the door. Soon we figured they were on their own. We went into Amy's house and watched the monsoon commence. When it died down a little I went home.
