should feel bad about the end of "Daisy", but really I can't. We butchered her out this morning and I just know that no one will be hurt by this cow now. I would have hated to have sentimentality overtake my better judgment and someone gets injured down the road.  We could have kept her as a brood cow, but her calves would not be as big as a full meat breed or cross beef cow, so with her not being able to give our family milk, we may as well have another take her place. The other problem with keeping her as a brood cow, is to even get her moved to where we needed to take her and keeping her in once she is there. For those who want to know what Jersey dairy cows dress out to, we have 270-some pounds of hanging weight. If you are on a farm, and choose to raise animals, they need to earn their keep and she wasn't.

Yes, we are back to fencing today. I am in for lunch and to check messages while my guy is dropping rails. We will be putting them into place later this afternoon as soon as he has a load to bring up. As soon as I finish my Happy Planet Orange juice, I am going out to seed grass on the mess we made from where the waterline was dug in. We have been having alot of rain and even the dogs cannot walk on the gumbo mud which results. We need grass or weeds or some kind of foliage growing to keep us from sinking to China... well at our latitude, maybe it would be Russia?
