Amy a Happy Birthday!!!

Yesterday we got 5 eggs to finish my dozen and today we got 4 more so far. I did have enough a few days ago to sell my first dozen for the year and then the boys decided they were hungry and got into them. So now I got smart and put them in egg cartons with notes on them that no one could touch them. I need to deliver them tomorrow. Hopefully soon all the hens will be in full swing. People think that I wash my eggs, but I never do as it takes off the protective coating. I just try to keep a clean barn and nestboxes.
Yes,
we only have brown egg layers in 3 different breeds. "Kid" told me the
other day that he used to think white eggs were poisonous. He grew up with a
chicken flock at home too. They had layers of all colors, but he somehow thought
the white eggs were
poisonous. I just asked him why he thought that and he says "You know when
you are a little kid and you just believe things like that?". He is laying
here on the sofa running a 103F fever and coughing, so I am giving him the
"Mysterious Chinese Cough Medicine" and liquids. He has been fighting me
tooth and nail to take his chewable vitamin C for weeks now.. I think I used to do that to my mother too
and even feed them to the beagles. Must have done them some good however as they lived
to the ages of 15 & 17.
"Teenager" gets the brunt of the 'kid chores' today. He hauled 2 days worth of wood down to the house and watered the chickens for me while he was up there.
There is a full moon tonight and for some reason it is coppery. There is supposed to be a complete lunar eclipse for most people, but I think we only get a partial one? It is supposed to be coppery coloured for us here. I can see the moon this morning and it is quite lovely.
