he
day started out with me picking up Mary and the both of us heading to do errands
at the next closest town which is 90-some miles away. The main purpose was
picking up a well pump kit and a 1" adaptor for the new well. We also did a
short Costco run and went to a couple second hand stores. We also got mosquito
netting for over our beds as mien is now over our bedroom window and Mary picked
up one for her daughter's bed. It is not so much the mosquitoes at night,
it is the No-See-Ums which seem to try to invade your ear if they are not in the
process of munching on you. We have found that the mosquito netting keeps them
out. Cats are another issue.
When I got to Mary's house, the Bald Eagles were back. What seemed to be a pair and a single juvenile bird were not far away and you could see them clearly. One of them was eating something alongside the creek which runs through their property. I walked down a bit to see what it was munching on, having a horrible feeling it might be one of their cats which I like extremely much. Two of the eagles did not seem to be all concerned I was there. The juvenile was in a tree mere yards from her house and I walked under 'her'. These large birds are most fantastic.
When I went through the fence and got closer, the eagle flew off most disgruntled and I discovered a Rainbow Trout still half alive and flopping around on the grassy bank. I immediately though of where my fishing pole was currently located.
We got back at 6pm, a 9 hour trip, and when I got home... I will be honest with you, I really had to use the restroom, only to be informed as I came through our gate that we had no water. How I wished I had decided to use Mary's outhouse instead when I had just been at her house. Our outhouse is not built yet, so I had to visit the toolies.
The reason we had no water, is that the backhoe for the digging of the new well line was here this morning and they didn't find the old waterline.. and didn't find it.. and didn't find it as they were digging.. and then .... OOOOOps.. they found it. So 6 hours later they sorta have it fixed. We still do not have any water to the bathroom sink, but everything else has a slow trickle. Good thing we have all the parts to the new well..
We lost another Nicholas White turkey poult. There are only 3 out of 11 left. I have now considered them a total write-off.
