we went to another town the other day, we always stop by the second hand store.
I am a sweater girl. I always look for 100% wool sweaters and good books when I
go. This time was no exception.
I
made an AWESOME find!!! A Namaste Woolen handspun handknit sweater which is
Yak/Merino 100% wool blend. The wool is so soft you just want to crawl into it.
It was originally $90 and it has never been worn. The original tags are still on
the front. I got it for way less than that! I think it is lovely
and I even had compliments on it when I was on my way to the cash register and
people disappointed they had not seen it before I nabbed it.
Then when I showed my guy at home, he decided he was going to snag the sweater from me and call it his own. I am trying to convince him that it has too much pink it in it for him.
Yesterday afternoon was
relaxing and wonderful. I went over to Mary's to go toss a fishing line into her
creek for an hour. I am an impatient fisherlady at times and if I do not get a
nibble in 5 casts, I am off to a new place. The trout coming downstream from the
lake are spawners and probably not interested in eating much anyway. The trout
the eagle had the other day was pretty bright red, which is a sure sign of
spawning.
Mary and I meandered down to her beaver pond. We walked across the face of the beaver dam and then sat on the far side looking for signs of the beaver family. There was plenty of work put into that dam recently. Lots of child-like handprints of the beavers as they laid their mud into place on the dam. It was most impressive. We did not see any sight of the beavers, we just sat there quietly for awhile and looked and listened. A Red Wing Blackbird. Something that looked suspiciously like a Kingfisher which splashed into the pond and retrieved a frog or fish, then sat in a tree to eat it. Then on our way back across the dam, a HUGE SPLASH and a mysterious whirlwind vortex which went across the pond at a 45 degree angle to us. The water moved like neither of us had seen before. It had to have been a beaver. It was magic.
