e were awakened by the dogs telling us someone was here. I flew out of bed as I am the one who wakes immediately. In a split second of peering out the front window, I see it is the man who owns the portable mill. I yell to him if he wants some coffee and he said he drank his gallon already, so I tell him that my significant other will be out in just a minute.

I am just in for a second at 11 am, as the saw blade came apart and they are repairing it at the moment, so I came in for organic grape juice and to type and post this.

Picture Above: Just starting to make the first cut. I get to hold the cut end even with the rest of the log and then if it is light enough, I put it into the various piles. This one will go into the slag pile which is heading over to Amy's so she can use them on the outside of her barns. It is not that cold out, but the wind is making it just a wee bit chilly, so I had to don the red jacket.

Picture Above: Almost at the end of the 4th cut. This is to get the wood all square to be able to get usable lumber. It looks like it is just me in the pictures, but "Teenager" and my guy are also working. Mary was over to see the mill work and I asked her to take some pictures of me, as no one else ever takes pictures besides me when we are working.

Picture Above:
These will be the good cuts of lumber. All of it is usable in one way or another, but this is the quality cuts. The log tells us what size lumber we will get out of it. This is now 1"X6"'s.

It almost sounds like they are ready to start the mill back up, so I best head back out there. I will not be in to check messages or invoice people until tonight, as I will be out there the rest of the afternoon.
