armer's
market all day. Amy, Mary and I talked to alot of people. The market was slow
though as they had the Walk for Cancer at the other park. I was thinking of
doing that last year, and did not realize when it was held this year, but I will
be walking in it in 2008.
I sold a bunch of eggs but no magazines at all... until I got home and there was a schwack of emails for subscriptions from the people I had talked to at the farmer's market, including the woman whom I said I would teach her how to knit a sock. And a kazillion requests for the FREE pdf Sample magazine which then lead to a bunch of subscriptions.
Amy had brought her spinning wheel as a demo for our booth at the Farmer's Market and she spun Suffolk for awhile and then she turned me loose on her naturally coloured Corridale from New Zealand. A woman from the local Spinners & Weavers Guild said I was doing a lovely job and invited me to join the Spinners Guild. I said I would be happy to come. I even get to bring my wheel. So if you have never been to a Farmer's Market before, find one in your area and support your local community farmers. It was very fascinating to me that the ratio of about 8 of the 10 people who stopped and asked questions about the spinning wheel were men. Someone asked how long I had been using a spinning wheel and I guess it has been about 12 years now.
Slo-Pitch Baseball Tournament for the guys this weekend. They played in alot of rain. One team told our guys... "The game is yours, we are going home".
Everyone at the tourney was cursing the rain, but we are so happy for it as both our farm and Amy have pasture seed down. We needed it to have a good soaking to get it germinating and growing.
