I
was given some loose tea when I was down at the island for my birthday from one
of my friends and I decided to try it last night. The big white chunks are
actually sugar, I didn't know until I tasted them. The blackish-green stuff
seaweed? I am frankly not sure what the rest of it all is. I steeped the loose
items in 2 cups of water as directed. It smelled good, but it sure tastes kinda
nasty. It is supposed to build up my immune system. With that taste, it ought to
do something *Blegh*
The words of the old Nursery Rhyme, 'Wash on Monday...' reflect the English tradition of washing clothes on a Monday. This tradition was supposedly taken to America when the women of the Mayflower came ashore on Monday, November 13, 1620 and the first thing they did was the washing.
Wash on Monday,
Iron on Tuesday,
Bake on Wednesday,
Brew on Thursday,
Churn on Friday,
Mend on Saturday,
Go to meeting on Sunday.
I am amazed at how
little laundry there is to do now. I was washing a load last night and thought
of the old rhyme. So I was wondering how I could put this rhyme into practice
around here for fun
and
to keep track of the days.
I now get to line (or rack dry) the clothes now from the heat of the woodstove as there is no one to protest about crunchy jeans. I have found I like them better as they are nice and crisp, like ironed. And no mom, I do not always keep them that close. I moved it closer for the picture, so don't worry!
