couple round bales were brought up today. With only 3 hay eating animals here this year, they will certainly last longer than they did last year with 7 animals needing it.

It snowed a wee bit last night. Not much more than a dusting.

Monika called this morning, actually I had quite a few phone calls before 8 am, and she wanted to know if I needed shavings as she was making a trip to get some. YES! Next time I have a day off, I will have to go with her and see about filling up my pickup. But on my way home, I stopped by and she was not able to get any today.

On my way to work this morning, I saw a moose standing next to the road looking all nervous. I am not sure if he was the bull I had seen many times last summer or not, as it was currently hornless. The animal was spooky enough I was not going to pull over to the side of the road this time. It was just huge. Those of you who know me, know I have a 'thing' for moose since I moved to Canada. Since I used to work at a zoo and spent most of my time with 14 species of antelopes and gazelles, moose really amaze me as they are all in the same basic family. Click here, here and here, to see some of the animals I worked with. Sorry, I couldn't get a picture of the moose this morning, but I will be looking out for him at the same spot with camera in hand.

I went to the hardware store in a town where I went to work at today and asked for the cross dowels. Yipppeee! They had some!! Bummer... they were only 13 & 15 mm and not large enough. So the hunt is on. I may have to order online yet, but it is beginning to become a challenge to find these things locally. I will let my fingers do the walking tomorrow and call around. I would like to sleep in my bed one of these days, however it is nice going to sleep by firelight.

Tonight for dinner, I am having organic (uncertified) pork chops from the pigs raised here this year, organic mixed rices, and organic (uncertified) carrots.
