I was young, my parents had my brother and I listen to the radio each night
after Thanksgiving to listen to an old radio show from 1937. It was one of the
highlights of the holidays in my childhood. This vintage radio show was called
"The Cinnamon Bear". The story is about Judy and Jimmy Barton who must
venture from their home to the enchanted world of Maybeland to recover their
missing Silver Star that belongs on top of their Christmas tree. Helping on this
quest for the missing star is The Cinnamon Bear, a stuffed bear with shoe button
eyes and a green scarf. They meet other
memorable characters on this quest, including the Crazy Quilt Dragon (who
repeatedly tries to take the star for himself) , the Wintergreen Witch, Fe Fo
the Giant, and even Santa Claus. The episodes would air starting at Thanksgiving
and would end at Christmas, with one episode airing each night. I would like to
do that here. If you are on dialup, let it fully load before playing it.
Episode
One: Surprised by the Cinnamon Bear
In their attic while looking for Christmas decorations, Judy and Jimmy meet the
Cinnamon Bear. They learn that the Crazy Quilt dragon has stolen their
tree-topper, a gleaming silver star. Paddy O'Cinnamon ("The Cinnamon
Bear") invites them to go after Crazy Quilt.
It snowed again today. I think it is still snowing, so it should be 4-5" by morning I would think. Dogpower will be required to get the feed and water to the other animals in the morning. The snow is deep enough now to be able to use the dogs.
