n going through some of my things this morning, I thought I would share a couple special family heirlooms with you all.

My great grandmother, whom my brother and I called by the ingenious name of "Grandma Great", was a very talented woman from a long line of women who excelled with needles. She did lots of kinds of needlework, tatting and crocheting. Her huge tablecloths were exquisitely embroidered and everyone wanted one of her tablecloths. The one I remembered and wish I had now, was covered in embroidery with pine cones and conifer branches. I remember her working on it, but I do not know if it was ever finished or what became of it.

I came across these doll dresses made by her in my stored things. I am not sure whose dolls they were made for, whether my great aunt R or my mother. But I am the one who has these dresses for many, many years now. The doll dresses are about 6" long and in perfect condition for being up to 60 years old.

In my sewing basket I also have my great grandmother's tatting shuttle.
