got the coolest email today from a lady who apparently has been reading my blogs
for a long time. She read about the moose which were hit and killed on my road
the other day, and how I was so fascinated with them. She used to work
with moose and other wildlife in conservation studies for many years here in
British Columbia. She sent me a picture of her working with a tranquilized one.
It will show you how large moose really are. I am envious she got to work with
many live ones. It looks like she just got done ear tagging and putting a radio
collar on this one. It must have been difficult to work in snowshoes!!

It's head is covered, as with wild animals it keeps them calm and keeps them from stressing out any more than need be while tranquilized. This is what we had to do at the zoo as well when I worked there and had to work on the animals. It is nice to have met a new net friend who was in a similar line of work with ungulates as I was, although she worked with North American animals and I worked with mostly Burmese and African ones.
Also in the news... I made a score of 42 real oak kitchen cabinet doors at the recycling place and also found out that the people I got the 'reject' windows from the other day, also has all this fir flooring that is garbage to them, so I might get to re-do my livingroom floor in wood as I had really liked to do, in order to get this yucky carpet out of here. I may not use the oak cabinets in my kitchen, but at the very least, in the mudroom, as I have wanted cupboards in there for a very long time, or at the very very least, in the shop.
