orry about the lack of a blog for a few days. I was either tucking magazine
projects between creating this week's newspaper, seeing friends off to their
home country, dealing with building house stuff or nursing a wicked headache
where I could not even look at a computer screen.
I was just told this morning that I have not one, not two, but three papers I have to get out next week. The newspaper field is a funny business and regardless of the holidays or 'forced' vacations we are required to take, the paper still must get out, as well as the year in review, so three weeks in one week. I have good news this morning however, they finally found someone to take on my position of being an Editor, so after January, I can devote all my time to the magazine again.
Our
Danish friend came to the end of his six month stay in Canada and we met his
family for dinner Saturday night. They wanted to thank us for taking care of
their son while he was here and brought us some lovely gifts. I told them he was
pretty easy to take care of, just toss food his way every now and again. His
brother Klaus was hesitant about talking much, as he said his English was not
very good, but I told him he spoke it perfectly well and I did not speak any
Danish. Klaus is a grounds keeper in Denmark, so we talked about gardening for a
little bit. His whole family was quite delightful.
Picture Above: Lasse in his military uniform. He was a 'Lifeguard', which is one of the Queen's of Denmark's Royal Guards.
We will miss you Lasse, but we shall see each other again, either here or there!! Remember we have a date for a chess game and for you to show me castles!
The
bathroom is continuing to make progress. Some days it looks like it is more of a
disaster than others, but at least I have the bedroom and half an office back.
Bren was working on another project and needed to steam some wood to bend and
was bemoaning the fact that he did not have a steam box here. Flippantly I
suggested the dishwasher and we determined it worked quite well. Every 15
minutes or so, he curled the wood up tighter and then let it dry in there. We
are sorta waiting on the floor tile to come in before we get more progress on
it. It could be
another week before it gets here.
I have 3 projects on the go for the magazine and tomorrow I am planning on getting another one done and another one started. At this rate I shall be able to get 2 issues out at once and then be back on track. Bren is now starting to want to contribute to it (and he has his first mini-article in DTTR) and some of his friends who were over last night were harassing me to quit the paper and just work on the magazine. I told them I was working on being able to get to that point again. I did just not know how close to 'that point' I was until I heard from my work this morning. I could have stopped working there anytime since I officially quit two months ago, but I did not want to leave them without anyone.
