December 10, 2008

was pretty sure that my wallet was not in the house. I was right. It was in the truck under all his tools. Today I have to start my Christmas Shopping. It is so coming down to the wire to get things made, bought and mailed to the States. My brother is the worst to find presents for.

I just also found One Million Acts of Green.  CBC and The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos (television shows in Canada) wanted to mobilize Canadians to do One Million Acts of Green. Evidently it started 2 months ago. The idea behind the campaign is that one small act can make a big difference. Something which I have been trying to do with my blogs and magazine for years. No matter where in the world you live, you can participate as well.  Each 'one little thing' on your part can make a dent for the health of our planet and ourselves. My total Acts of Green is...

My Total Acts of Green: 155
Greenhouse Gases Saved: Reduced: 22,226

Today's Act of Green:

Open the Curtains on Winter Days and Close Them at Night

Capturing sunlight by leaving the drapes or blinds open during the day, is a great way to keep your winter heating bill down. All that natural light translates into free heat. Keep your windows extra clean to maximize all the light you can. When the sun goes down, close your curtains or blinds to conserve (and enjoy) that warmth. Remember to close them though! Just as you get heat through the windows during the day, you lose it at night.

In the Summer, reverse the act and close your drapes or blinds during the day to cool your home.
