ast
night I spent a lovely time on the phone to New York with a man who wanted to
learn a little more about my farm.
We spent over an hour gabbing about farming in general and I still have lots to
talk to him about what he and his wife do. They are sheep dairy farmers and run
a little over 200 head of ewes. The ewes milk out more than what I thought they
would milk out at, and then the milk is frozen and sent to be made into
cheese. It was very interesting to talk to him. Although
my farm is for sale, I have not really actively listed it yet. If is sells it
sells and if it doesn't, that is ok too. I have other plans for it.
It is funny, I rarely saw any wildlife up close to the house at the farm due to the dogs, but here, I have a doe with her 2 fully grown female offspring who come through twice a day. I usually always see them by the street lights in the evenings, but this morning they went by at a slow pace as they meandered up the street like they had too much of a late night last night. They are used to all of the dogs on the street and just look at them in curiosity if any of the dogs bother to bark at them. Although I do not believe in feeding wildlife other than the birds, I did toss the trio a couple apples out of the refrigerator on Christmas.
I do not get to work on the magazine today as I have to do a couple other things which is going to take me 5-6 hours. But you can say I have a couple projects 'cooking'. Literally... as they are sitting on top of the hot water heater to grow.. Sound disgusting? Nah... it is all good in the end, although Bren looked at the projects in suspicion.
I am finally catching up on laundry. It is so nice to have water back. Five days worth of work clothes from the job we had to go on and then five days of clothes (although we had to double up) while the water was frozen was making for a large pile of laundry.
