wanted to show you how deep the snows are here still, even after a week or so of
melting. This is out in the back 40
and it
is
way over my knees. It is mid-thigh or higher as I was slogging though the snow
checking fencelines. Even though the snow is at that height on me, I am yet
standing on alot of packed snow. It would be well over my hips if I was standing
all the way on the ground. My right knee is just touching the snow as I am
standing in that hole. The snow in front of my left leg is how deep the snow
actually is we had to trudge through. There were some spots that the winds had
drifted snow and it was step, crawl out of the hole, step, crawl out of the
hole... it took 2 hours to check half the fenceline.
Poor 'Cyrus', he was over his back in snow most of the way. He did have the benefit of having 'four wheel drive' however. 'Cyrus' is my tallest dog, about 2 times the height of my sled dogs. This is the powder which we have to haul the wood from the back 40 by dogsled. It is not going to happen until I get a trail packed by a snowmobile. When both 'Cyrus' and I sit next to each other, he is the taller of us. Maybe that will tell you how deep the untouched snow is. The reason I have my hand on his back in the picture, is that when he tried to pass me on the narrow trail that we 4 were breaking, he knocked me over a couple times and it was difficult to get back onto my feet.
As I am typing this, I had an epiphany. I will get back to you on that this afternoon if it works...
Afternoon Update:
Ok, I got sidetracked from the epiphany, but I may try it tomorrow or the next day. I am pretty sure it will work. I have been working on work stuff, magazine pages and picked up the things I needed for my kitchen sink while I was out and about for my work late this morning.
The
kitchen sink has been dripping for months, (more like pretty close to a year)
and it has steadily gotten worse, to the point of annoying you while you try to
sleep. Today, in keeping with my New Year's Resolution, was to stop at the
hardware store and pick up some "O" rings for it, hoping that was what
was wrong with it. It was one of those 'guessing what is wrong with it' things.
I also had to guess at sizes of "O" rings. I was grossed out at how dirty it gets under the taps as I
started to tear it apart, then I was fascinated with how a tap goes together as
I have never repaired a kitchen sink before, although I have done other plumbing
type stuff. It
took a couple times to take it apart, try different "O" rings,
and then turn the water back on to see if it/they were the right size, but it is
now drip free. It took a little longer than the 5 minutes I had been
planning on my "Five-Minute-Repair-a-Week" Resolution, but then again
I didn't get to one last week, so it makes up for it. As a bonus, the
under-the-sink cabinet also got ordered and cleaned. Ugh.. and so did the taps.
