t was so warm again last night! At 10 pm it was blowing warm northwestern winds and it was +2c/35F. I had huge chunks of snow up to 18" high sliding off my roof with a tremendous crash to make the cats and myself jump. I will probably have to shovel some snow away from the house in the morning. I let the woodstove go out again overnight. There was no sense in keeping it going. Just start it again as it was 16c/61F in here this and yesterday morning. May as well conserve the firewood. 

After last night's dinner, while I was working on the magazine, I cooked up some fresh cinnamon buns to energize me while I wrote in the evening (yes, there is one bun missing already). Nothing like a bit of a sugar high to keep oneself going. I love the butter frosting I make, it is almost worthy enough to eat on its own. At dinnertime, I popped into the DTTR Live Chat for a bit to talk to readers.

I wish I could go to this conference, but I know there are alot of readers in Oregon and Washington who might go and report back to us.

The Organic Seed Alliance 5th Biennial Organic Seed Growers Conference
will be held in Salem, Oregon on February 13-15, 2008. This years conference will be a dynamic mix of international speakers and practical know how on breeding organic seed crops. 

Edith Lammerts van Bueren, and internationally known expert on breeding plants for organics, from the European Plant Breeders Consortium will be a featured speaker. Carlo Leifert from the EU Quality Low Input Food Project along with organic plant breeders, seed production experts and organic seed users from across the US will talk about organic seed breeding and production along with the dynamic growth of the industry.

I could have so much fun at this conference. That is one drawback of being up this far north, if you want to attend anything like this, you have to travel a long ways away to go to it.
