ast
night was pathetic! I know I could possibly come up with a better word
than that, but for the lack of sleep. I get to bed about midnight after getting
some stuff done here before my company arrives and to get ready for the upcoming
event.
I get into bed and one cat is deciding he must get into everything, including practicing opening cupboard doors. And he is not a pro at it, so he tries as hard as he can, which translates into as loud and annoying as he can. I finally trap the cat at about 2am and stuff him in a pillow case and went to sleep on the pillow to keep him trapped in there. It does no good to just shut the bedroom door as they then bang on it. So in the pillowcase he went.
Then the dogs start barking at something all night. I finally relent and let 'Cyrus' stay in for the night in the livingroom. He must be growing up as he did not eat anything. He was a perfect gentleman. It was -24C/-11F last night. I had very little sleep.
I wake up this morning to give fresh water to the cats (who really didn't deserve it) at a quarter to 7 am and found out my water was frozen. I get dressed in my cold weather gear and head to the pumphouse where I find the light bulb burnt out and STUCK in the light socket. I cannot budge it. I don't know if it fused to the socket when it blew or if it is frozen. I used my trusty blowdryer which immediately started overheating. I then grab a brooder light and have it going on the part which froze last time. It 'popped' loose again like it did last time.
I still couldn't get the light bulb out of the socket, so tomorrow I will shut off the power to the pumphouse and take the ceramic socket thing off the roof to see what it's problem is. I may have to replace it? Break and rip the remains of the bulb out of it? I will take it in the house first to thaw out and see if it is just frozen into place. I need to buy a small heater to put in there as backup.
I worked until late afternoon. Then I stole a bit of time and took the dogs up to the big trails and we ran about 5-6 miles in the moonlight. I love it when it is like that. I turn my headlamp out as you can see better without it. I keep it on in case there are any snowmobilers or anything who are coming at me fast as a warning to them. It is so completely surreal to run the dogs at night under moonlight. Unless you have done it, you cannot know.
Currently it is -22C/-9F.
