blend into each other so badly when you are busy. It seemed like I had not
blogged in just 2 days lapsed time, apparently it has been four now. I was
talking to a friend who is equally busy and she did not know the day or date. I
know how she feels.
I learned a few things over the last few days. One was that when my electricity goes out, my pressure tank for my well can (but not necessarily) get overfilled and it won't work properly. It makes the well pump kick in and out at rapid speed. I learned how to turn off the power to it, drain it down to nothing, where and how to refill it with air from a compressor. I also learned that my solar power unit which I have had for over a year has a air compressor in it to do the job. I was pretty excited about that. Tickled pink actually.
It was super hot for a few days, then it has been cold and rainy. Monsoony really. I love the sound of rain on my tin roof. My garden is doing well however and my watermelon in the greenhouse is flowering. The celery may be ready for light picking soon. I am managing to keep the weeds at bay which is probably a good trick due to all the weed issues I had last year, the lack of Fall tilling and the late tilling this year.
I took a bit of time for myself yesterday morning and rode my horse for the first time in a year. I could not believe how much of a gem she was. I took a two hour ride and she behaved perfectly. I still do not trust her as I would normally trust other horses. She is the one I fell off of when I injured myself and put myself out of commission for nearly two years. I am surprised I am not sore. We did alot of trotting and cantering. Maybe at 13, she is 'growing up'?
I had guests come and visit and stay this weekend. The company was nice.
More chicks have been hatching, I have lost count on how many. I still have 4-5 hens sitting on nests. At this rate they may be done sometime around Thanksgiving. I picked up a pig which wandered too close to me this morning and they have more than doubled their weight since I brought them home. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! It was not impressed about its 4 legs leaving the earth. I will not be able to pick any of them up much longer.
While the press was printing pages before I had to go to work at noonish, I weeded my flower beds in front of the cabin and layered my lavender plants to propagate more. This is a really hardy variety of unknown type, which overwinters here very nicely. One day one side of my whole garden will be a row of Lavender.
OH CRUMBS.. it is mom's birthday!!! I need to call her!!! Gotta go....
