July 25, 2008

am feeling the 'hamster wheel' more than usual this week. I am still exhausted. It did not help one of the kittens was looking pretty grim last night and might not make it to morning so I stayed up with it until 1 am. It's heart rate was 80 per minute (should be around 200 or more) and its temperature was low. It is my companion's pet and he really loves 'Simon'. He chose to cuddled up with the kitten instead of taking it to the vet as he has already spent over $500 on this stray mom and kittens. With his body warmth and caring, as of this morning, he looked like a completely different kitten. 'Simon' was even playing again. We stuck him back on goat milk for a bit although his brothers and sisters are on solid food now, just to give him a boost.  We thought for sure he was a goner.

My strawberries are in full harvest. I need to pick them in the morning. I have to work tonight. Just writing a blog and post the back ones as I am getting emails from people concerned again. I just couldn't get online to get any of them posted. When I have been able to be in the house, I say "I will post in the morning..." and then I am off and running early again. Or in the case of Tuesday and Wednesday, sleep most of the day away.

My garden is looking great. My heirloom Indian Squash are doing the best they ever have and my watermelon has melons on it. I like the tradition of having lavender by your garden gate or front door. I 'pet' it every time I pass by it to release its fragrance.

"Blossom" the heifer heard me out in the barnyard this afternoon and she was mooing for me. She must have decided she missed being scratched under her chin.
