was asking me if I was worried as my garden went in so late. "Not
really" was my answer. It has been so wet, cold and down to almost
freezing until a few days ago. I started some things in my indoor greenhouse in
late winter, such as tomatoes and peppers and alot of things in the greenhouse around
the 1st of June. My pumpkins and squash I started in there and I
transplanted them out, so I am just about as far in the game as I could be if I
had planted on the 1st into the garden, (if not even more ahead). Last summer it
was so wet & cold, nothing grew well at all and it was planted earlier
than normal for my area.
In my climate zone, I can never really plant out until June 1st anyway. Many times I couldn't even get the garden tilled until then.
About 400 onions got planted after work today, so the garden is fully planted now.
I had to take a break from writing, so I went out and got a load of wood and stacked it in the

woodshed. The light coloured wood at the bottom and left of the photo is all I had left in the woodshed at the end of winter. I was so very close to running out. I do not have any other source of heat. The darker wood on top is what I just brought in from the back 40, where it had been covered with snow all winter. I was worried that it would be bad and punky, but it seems very dry and good for use.
I am guessing about another 14 truckloads before I have my full winter's supply of firewood. The woodpile is actually about 3-4 feet higher than it is stacked now, about 6 or so feet wider than shown in the picture and it takes 9 rows to completely fill the shed.
I am going to try to get a load or two a week from the back 40 and have all my wood in before August.
