one!!!!!! And the magazine will be ready to print tomorrow/Saturday morning (I have a 3 day weekend!!!!), although I may get a chance to start on it tonight.

The weatherman was talking about record high temperatures this weekend, (they said), in the 40's C/104F. Thus far at 8 am it is 9c/48F and pouring rain. I am not convinced it will indeed get that warm.

More chicks are hatching out. I found one yesterday morning, cold and lifeless in the nest, but not under mom. I picked it up and was not convinced it was dead. It was cold and limp, but it just didn't feel like it was dead. I stuck it in my pocket and then headed down to the pumphouse where I had a heat lamp over the winter. I plugged it in, held the lifeless chick in my hand under the lamp. About the time I thought maybe I should have buried it after all, I could see it 'start' to breathe. Within 3 minutes it was flopping around and started cheeping. After 5 more minutes of warming, I went and stuck it under its mother before I went to work. I forgot about the chick until I went to do chores, peeked under mom and it was looking like a normal acting fluffy chick. This morning I put it into the brooder house.

All of the kittens have homes now, but for one. The peas are starting to emerge from the ground.

I have had a 'pack' of ravens here since January. They had a nest over the fenceline somewhere (they nest early in the year) and they now bring their 5 children here. Other than annoyingly waking me up when the cats aren't, they seem to not be causing any trouble. Other than drinking from the livestock trough, I can't see that they are doing anything but sitting on the log fence. I can get quite close to them now that they are used to my routine of doing the chores and I can get within arms length of them. They better stay out of my garden. Especially when the corn comes up.
