ne
more day and I will just be working 4 days a week for a total of 36 hours a
week. The last few days though, I have been at the farm, getting the rest of my
stuff out of the house and clean it for the new people to move into it and so
then I do not have to travel back and forth anymore. I am happy with whom is
moving in as they are friends of friends. K was awesome in coming over to keep
me company and helping me out. I am a little sad in leaving it, but I know
better things are in the works, so I am happy with that and can handle staying
in town until then. Like I have repeatedly stated, homesteading can be a state
of mind and you can do it anywhere if you have the ambition and the creativity.
Yes, I still have "Dixie" my horse, "Blossom" my heifer and
the sleddogs.
News of the strange is that as I am traveling in the evenings, I am getting not our local radio stations, but I am getting radio all the way from Seattle, Washington, USA (way south of here) to the Peace River, BC (way north of here) area which is very odd. I was getting everything from Seattle highway news, to the game between the Patriots and the Jets, to the weather status of the Peace River area. Where I was driving, I cannot get any local station within 2 hours of me, but I am listening to radio up to 14 hours from where I was. It seems to be only at night I can listen to those stations.. for now.
My office area is also getting more ready to look like a real office. Bren and I went through his tax stuff the other night to get ready and we took 5 large boxes of receipts and such and got them all into proper envelopes to send out to the poor tax person who is doing them for him. So that is 5 boxes out of my way!!
It is turning colder. Snow is supposed to happen again today, with perhaps some black ice. If it gets too nasty to make it all the way home, I will hole up at a friend's house. Better safe than sorry.
Last night I made Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner with blanched asparagus and fresh homemade bread. Tonight I think I will make steamed pork buns as I have not made them in some months now. I may set up some beans to soak to make the guys some chili (and I will fix something else entirely for me!!).
It feels so good finally catching up on stuff which I have had no time to do in the last year. Frankly I am not sure how I even did what I had accomplished.
