October 8, 2008
here is a talk of snow today. If so, it is later than it was the last two years.
But I do not think it is here to stay yet. The air does not smell right for it.
I am answering alot of emails for the farm already. It is so interesting to see all the types of agriculture these people are into who are interested in the farm. Everything from Alpacas, wool rabbits, Icelandic sheep, people who want to have a farm to start with, some who want to move to Canada, some who want to upgrade to something larger and some people who just like the area.
I am learning to run a pellet stove. It is in the house I am wintering in. They are nice in that you do not have to keep feeding it, but it is bad if the electric goes out as they don't work and you cannot cook on them.
Afternoon Update:
I was tossing out scenarios to my guy about the pellet stove and other issues if the electric went out. He is the guru of McGyver-ing and he knew how to keep the pellet stove going in case it went out in the middle of January. And how to cook etc. I am no longer as wary of living there if the power goes out. At my current home on the farm, it never phased me if the power did go out for days.
