ooks like a Fall day today, with a hint of winter tossed in to remind us it is
coming. Got everything back to order after Thanksgiving yesterday and figured
out that was the first time in 15 years that I have cooked Thanksgiving all by
myself. Now comes the part of becoming creative with the leftovers. I have a
good idea of what I will do. The broccoli salad I am sure I will devour for
lunch the next couple of days. The yams will go into a soup. The remaining game
hens will go into various meals, as they are frozen already. The stuffing is
frozen in 3 people sized portions. I am having Tess's apple cider for my
'morning tea'. Tonight I am cooking a chicken 'gumbo' put into Kaiser bun shells
as the main dish.
I talked to my mom last night. If she can't get ahold of me by telephone (yeah, it is difficult to track me down sometimes.. ok.. most of the time), mom has been checking my blog to see if I was still alive. She was glad to see that I was. (Hi Mom & R!).
Nothing too exciting to report on so far as yet today. Just mundane things I need to accomplish. Think about getting my winter tires on, make a few phone calls. Work. Nice that I can do most of my work at home today. I love my laptop.
Forgot
to mention that a few weeks ago that I won one of the eight awards for the
"Golden Rooster Awards" at our local fall fair.
I am not altogether sure of what I did to deserve the nomination, let alone win the award as I have not done as much over this last year farming as I would normally have, as well as having to slack off on the magazine much to my chagrin. But I appreciate receiving the award. The intention of these Golden Rooster Awards is to celebrate those individuals, groups and agri-businesses which work in, and support, the agricultural sector in the North Cariboo. Twenty people/businesses were nominated.
Soon I will be working two days a week outside the home and the rest of the time on the magazine. That will take a huge load off me and let me be able to work on the magazine so much more than I have been able to for the last year. It is also nice I will have a real office to work on it in, as well as for printing. It was difficult to run the press when it was on a floor, having half the office all over in my home where it fit and the rest of the office in another home 35 minutes away was a pain. I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. You guys are gems.
