verything
was great when I got home, except the demise of one turkey which something
evidently ate. There were feathers everywhere! I am not sure if it got out of
the poultry pen on its own volition or if it was hauled out. I have to watch for
predators closely the next few days.
The garden continued to grow. Although it was not watered while I was gone, Mother Nature evidently was obliging I heard. Lots of rain and massive windstorms. I need to go check fenceline later today.
My
sunflowers finally bloomed. I picked some lovely large turnips last night and it
looks like I need to can beans and freeze peas soon. I have about 400 onions I
need to pick, dry and store. Need to cut and freeze Swiss chard and beet tops. I
need to poke around and see where the carrots are at for harvesting size. I know
I need to get more sand for the turnips for storing for winter.
I was also happy to see that my project for the next issue worked perfectly. It is a growing project to give everyone who has a itchy green thumb something to grow something over the winter months. It is like a really cool science project!!! It is even something the whole family could get into. And it is really inexpensive.
