Since I cannot quite blog yet, as I do not have the programs I need for it on
this computer, I will post here and then transfer them over to the proper spot
when I am able.
---------------
I woke up at 7:30am
which is late for me. I was exhausted yesterday and went to
bed at 8:30pm and half read-half slept until a friend called me. I must have
needed the sleep as today when I woke I was rearing to go. The skies were a nice
enticing blue for a change and I went to go outside to work, got sidetracked and
worked on unpacking some more and tidying the house. Got some laundry done and
even hung on the line.
A trio of red squirrels have moved into the rootcellar.. or at least on the side
of it. I was sad, but told them I had to evict them. They are lovely creatures
and let me come pretty close. I have not see them since, but the little pine
guy (I forgot what he is, but he is a tiny tiny little chipmunk with a really
pointed face called a "Yellow Pine something".. ). When I walked out
the back
door the other day, I saw a grouse, a raven, the 3 squirrels, tweety birds, and
a half brown/half white snowshoe bunny all at once. "Cyrus" and I took
a walk
and the moose were really wintering here.
Last month I entrusted a local friend with my beloved seed bag which for the
last 10 years has barely gone out of my sight, let alone my hands, and she gave
me it back yesterday after I doled out seed. She was going to go through it
herself and imediately became intimidated when she unzipped the duffle bag. I
think i am up to well over 400 varieties now. While it was at hand today, I got
some seed sorted out for my friend in Wisconsin who called last night. He has a
large farm and gardens.. and so he called me about advice about seed saving and
heirlooms and I said "I will tell ya what, have I got a deal for
you...". So I
am sending him most of my seed which is only good for a year, such as onions,
artichokes and grains, which I uncertain if I will see it to maturity or not. He
has a good growing season there, so I am sure he can pull off a seed crop off
most of them, so I won't lose my seeds permanently and he can return fresh seed
to me.
I am not sure what is for dinner tonight. I may just 'graze'. For lunch I had
homemade corn chowder and cheese bisquits (those I didnt make).
The vacuum cleaner is closer to being fixed. It has now migrated outside onto
the porch upside down with tools, so when I get tired of tripping over it, I can
tear it down. Normally I would not procrastinate so long on it, but I am
seriously thinking it is more than I think it is. So I am kinda avoiding the
issue as if I don't get to fixing it yet, then I won't determine it is
completely history, which means more time before I have to buy a new one *L*..
Sounds a WEE bit logical, no? (I will probably get to it tomorrow morning).
Looked at real estate in Oregon and set my brother to looking for me. The other
day I found 2 places which I could work with, but today, nothing new caught my
eye. I am not going to easily give up this place for substandard land.
