February 7, 2009

got home one day (whenever I posted last) from work and I had been 'evicted' from the house. I had not even walked in the door and the guys told me that there had been arrangements made for me to stay at one of Bren's friends houses and I was handed my sleeping bag by Bren and my toothbrush from 'city boy'. I was barely let in the door. Why did this happen? They told me they did not want me in the dust and debris, as I as already getting respiratory issues from the building process. They had torn out the old bathtub and shower that day while I was gone and found alot of dryrot which they had cut out of the floor and wall behind the shower wall. There had been a larger window there at some point, and it is not all bad as a door is going to go there, but OMG!!! You just have NO idea! This is an older house, but...

Picture Above: The hall from the kitchen to the bathroom (and the bedroom). Note the large hole in the floor, just behind the stove/wall/left-ish. This is what I came home to.

Picture Below: The floor getting new subflooring, etc. The cats were having a heyday exploring up & down, up &down, up & down into the crawlspace. The black pipe is where the toilet normally sits. We just replaced the old one and installed a low water usage one.

Picture Below: The wall behind the shower stall wall. The good news is we were going to put a door through here anyway. So another 4-5 feet is going to be taken away and replaced. But ICKY!!!!

The good news is I have been 'Un-evicted" and am back home now. The disaster is slowly disappearing, but the majority of it has disappeared.
