January 22-25, 2009
Thursday 22nd
am off on my 8th year of the The
Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Association, of which I am a member. Although I am
not running my dogs this year, my 'little sister' is going to attempt to run the
whole trail and I am the support crew for her and the vet tech for the event.
There are 3 sections and if I think she cannot handle the longest day, I am
going to highly suggest she does not do the first day (Friday), which is the
longest. It is supposed to be -25C for the weekend which will make the dogs run
great. I am mostly worried about Ashley trying it solo by herself for the first
time. It is rough country out in the wilderness and she is only 15. There is
alot of safety crew out on the trail, so accidents are minimal, but still me and
her parents are worrying. She is a very determined young woman and reminds me
alot of me, so I think she will do awesome with the team of 6. I do think she is
going to need alot of Cal-Mag when she gets in at night as I think she is going
to have to do alot of running.
I need to get this posted as I have not even packed in trying to get the last pages of the magazine done in the last few days and I leave in 3 hours. I have yet to send my family their Christmas presents!! Slowly I am catching up on everything!! I will give you all the details when I get back with lots of pictures!!!
