inally Bren got home last night of working away from home for the last 17 days. It was nice to finally see him again, was almost forgetting what he looked like. He was one tired guy though, as he only had one day off in all that time. He wanted to get everything done so he did not have to keep going down to Vancouver. But he got to visit his friends that he had not seen in awhile and stayed at one of their homes for a couple days and did some work on their homes them then in the evenings. Later they will come up and help us when we need help. But one of them is very interested in my "gardening stuff" as apparently Bren was talking to him about it, so I will be sending my seed list to him soon to see what he would like. Apparently his friend is also a tomato-holic.

The snow ebbs and flows these days, but in the end of things, it becomes less and less. The roads were pretty slippery on my walk the other morning. I bagged it and came back to the house after I almost fell three times. But today the roads were clear and dry.. and the sun was shining. I bemoaned the fact I left my jacket behind as my wool sweater was just not cutting it with the wind.

Although I didn't look too closely, it seems that some of the brassicas are coming up already. I think I only planted them 3 days ago. I am surprised as the house has been a little chilly as the pellet stove acted up again the day Bren left, so I have only been using a small oil space heater. Good thing the guys are working on it tonight as it is supposed to go down to -28C and even more brutal with the windchill. I gave Bren's rabbit more straw in her house to burrow into since she has an outside hutch.

Tonight we had lamb gyros for dinner. I let him cook the lamb. Bren loves his lamb and it is one of the things he wants me to raise when I have a farm under my feet again. That and quail as he loves his quail eggs.
