I have not been blogging much. I needed a break from the computer for awhile.
There has not been much to report on the agricultural bend anyway. My seedlings
are still growing by leaps and bounds. I am restless. The snows are melting and
it is not quite time to work outside yet. Everyone I know in the agricultural
community here is at about the same point of pacing pacing pacing that I am. We
want to get our tasks underway. We can feel that spring is in the air (and that
there are things growing behind the scenes although we cannot yet see them).
Just because the calendar says it is spring, doesn't mean it is in reality for
our climate zone.
However, in the news... the White House is getting its first vegetable garden on the grounds for the first time since WWII. The 1,100-square-foot plot will seemingly be well tended by a 5th grade class, the First family and many other staff volunteers. It should be weedless with all those people. There will be 55 varieties of organic vegetables, selected from a wish list of the kitchen staff, but will lack beets as apparently the president loathes them.
