5th December 2009
There are 19 days until Christmas Eve and I have not even started any of my present making or gift purchases.. nor baking for those I send goodies to. I do have an idea to make for my brother and sister-in-law however.
I have been out house hunting with most of my time. I was determined to find a home before the $8,000 tax credit ran out (which I failed on) and now I want to find a home for Christmas for SweetPea and me!
After 9 and a half years of using my original battery in my vehicle, it finally died. I think I got my money's worth out of it. My mom's significant other and I went to NAPA and got a new one and then we installed it into my truck. It was still early yet and we were dismayed to have a even more 'dead' battery after putting the new one in. Then we realized we were dumb as we forgot to take one of the plastic caps off the battery terminal. Granted, it DID look like black paint/coating and not plastic. So after taking things apart and putting them together again, my vehicle went Vrooom, Vrooom again. Even with all the miles I put into my vehicle, I got 9 years out of my brakes as well. I love my truck.
I found a house yesterday and was going to put a bid in on it today and I was a day late and a house short. It has sold already. But last night I found another lovely one in a totally different direction and heading out to look at it today. It is a lovely early 1900's home in a nice historic farming community. It is quaint enough (and large enough) that I could turn it into a B&B if I chose to.
I have decided to bag the 1940's farmhouse for now as it is too wet there and the bank who repo'd it wants too much and I am not going to offer any higher than I did for what is there. I was the highest bidder out of 3-4 of us when they opened it to bidding and then they decided not to take my offer which was much higher than the other people's. The bank in Texas can keep it.
Last night, my mom's significant other took all of us out to Mexican food. I have not had any since April and it is one of my favorite cuisines, which I could not get up where I lived in "Moosetown", B.C. It was quite delicious and I drank glass after glass of strawberry lemon aide before my meal even got there. Baby SweetPea is so good. I fed and changed her before we went to dinner and made sure she stayed awake and then she slept through the entire dinner experience. I did not want her to cry and annoy other diners.
Then back at mom's house, my friend who is recording artist and is staying with us for a month played the guitar and sang for us for about an hour. It is so nice having live music to listen to in a private setting.
This morning at 7:30 am it is -1C/30F.. and it looks a little frosty out there. I wonder how mom's lettuce is doing under its glass outside.
Afternoon Update:
Saw the inside and outside of the house. "C" and I both loved it. It needs TLC and the eviction of at least one skunk out from under the house, but it will meet my needs including my office where I can keep the press, as I do not want the fumes from running it in the main part of the house. It has an insulated dog mansion with concrete runs and a whelping pen. Fruit trees and a garden spot with raised beds. A woodshed and a single car 'garage' which needs to be torn down and rebuilt.
The
roof would need to be redone next summer and some of the lathe and plaster needs
to be redone in the bedrooms.
New carpets are required in at least one bedroom and linoleum in the kitchen.

There has been three offers on it I found out, but none of them have been accepted. Maybe mine will.
