Finally,
I have the keys to my new home. My realtor was getting upset that this
transaction was taking so long, as it should have closed 10 days ago. But I knew
eventually it would all
work
out. Even the skunk must have decided I was here to stay, and has moved on to
his/her new place. My friend and I went to a flooring business and selected
carpet as well as linoleum samples to take back to the house tomorrow to choose
the colours/style. Also picked up some eco-friendly paint samples.
Tomorrow I will also start ripping up the carpet and linoleum after the flooring installer takes his measurements. Carpet laying is something I was told was best left to a professional and I want them installed as soon as possible so I can get officially moved in. But there will be enough time to paint the kitchen, living and family rooms before the flooring gets laid, as it has to be ordered in and it takes longer at this time of the year as the companies let their stock dwindle down.
I met my neighbors and the couple seems quite nice. They are also dog friendly and have a pleasant one of their own. Maybe "Cyrus" has someone to play with now. While I was in the backyard I determined I can indeed make the garden area larger (although there is a bit of gravel there) and make it so chickens can run in it during spring tilling and winter cleanup. That is the best way to keep your garden slug-free in this state.
