Keys.. how many of you people have keys on your key ring which you have NO CLUE what they are meant to unlock? Until this morning, I have had 4 keys on my ring, when mom gave me my truck key back (someone else was driving my truck for a bit) and a new house key to her home. The remaining 4 keys on it, and the only 4 keys which were on it, I have no idea what they go to.

One sorta looks like the key to my back door at my former cabin, one is a U-Haul Key (which I have no idea why I would have it since I used my own hefty-duty locks on the U-Hauls -- and I know where those keys are as they are wired to the locks when not in use), one looks like a US Post Office Box key (but it isn't and is marked with a local 'Moosetown' store stamp where it was made... as is the last key, which looks like a house key and it is not mine. So out of 6 keys on my ring, I only know what 2 of them actually go to. Did I leave them on there 5 months ago when I was 'culling out' keys as I did not know what they went to then?

Is there some lock someone had to cut off somewhere, or a doorknob to replace as the keys were nowhere to be found? Are they spares someone gave me when house-sitting (I usually am given my own permanent set often). Other than me, has anyone considered writing "Ode to a Lost Key"?

I am not the only one with key mysteries. When I collected my two KNOWN keys off the counter this morning, I asked mom what the other brass coloured key was for and she laughed and said it was an 'enigma'.. which I trust means she has no clue what it goes to either.. and if it is the same key which had been sitting on the coffee table's fancy dish since at least July when I spied it there then, GOOD LUCK!

Now the dilemma.. do I keep those 4 keys on my keyring hoping to find/remember what they go to some point down the road? Or stick them in a drawer somewhere, forget over time that I put them there, and then be even more mystified about them? I could be rotten and for April Fool's Day, put them in someone else's house... like my brother's.... *L*
