6th September 2009

I went to a medieval event and met up with friends this weekend. Other than househunting, I do not have alot to do down here yet without a home to work on, so to keep from going stark raving mad from searching multiple hours for a home, day after day, these occasional events (every couple weeks or so)  keep my sanity.

Photo Above: Handmade largess gifts made by my barony as gifts to the royalty to give out to others as awards and "thank you's". In the baskets I spy the books I made and the handspun/hand-dyed wool & silk yarns "B" made.

Two Photos Below: Each year at September Crown a horse is taken (a different horse each year) and dressed in this special regalia. It is in honor for those who have passed away during the last year. A tassel is put onto the regalia in remembrance of them and their name/s entered in a special book so no one will forget them. Thankfully at this ceremony only two tassels were added. Ten were added at the previous ceremony.

I couldn't do alot this year due to the extreme heat and my pregnancy (I try to not push my limitations, since it is a high risk pregnancy, and did not do as much as I would have normally volunteered. But I did take a couple classes. One on medieval non-alcoholic drinks, and I also spent many hours volunteering at "Volunteer Point" as it was a sit down job out of the sun, so it made me happy I was doing SOMETHING to contribute.
