26th September 2009

Today I attended the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival with friends (to bad Angelia couldn't come up today though) where there were hundreds and hundreds of booths indoors and out pertaining to wools and fibers.

We went through the buildings and looked at new things and old. Brilliantly coloured yarns and raw fleeces. Talked to merchants of things such as triangular knitting needles made from sustainable practices and reclaimed from furniture making and other industries and made right here in Oregon.

Then we watched a couple classes of Angora goats and I am happy to say I placed the classes as the judge did, other than one middle pair in one class of young does, but it was close between the two and I did not have the advantage of the judge in being able to feel the animals.

Touring the livestock barns, we saw Angora, Pygora, Cashmere, Romney, Jacob, Llama, Alpaca, English Angora, Germans.. and happily enough there were NON wool rabbits which were Creme d' Argent, Champagne d' Argent and Blue Beveren whichare rare to see anymore.

We got tired and went to have lunch and then go south to check out a house I aminterested in and will go check out again tomorrow with the realtor. It was a full day! And fun!
