Started my compost pile already. I do not have a lawnmower and the grass was soon going to be called hay pasture, but a teenage boy stopped by the other day and asked if I would like my lawn mowed and the leaves raked. After deciding that since he had his own lawnmower and I didn't, that I needed to do more unpacking in the house and other things other than mowing the lawn .. he was hired. He seemed like a very nice kid and jobs are hard to find for kids many times.  I now need to find a composting bucket for in the house as I am currently using a mixing bowl.

I need to get some hog panel or something to make an actual composter, instead of just a pile on the ground. I am also thinking about a tumbler kind (not necessarily the one pictured) and experimenting with it. I may make my own or try to find one for the right price. When I was in Oregon before, I used 4 sections of hog paneling in 4 foot sections and clipped together at the corners for easy opening and shutting.

At one time in my life, I was taking an average of 2 pounds of compostable material out every single day. It will be interesting to see what me and SweetPea will have. I know by trying to pre-cycle I already have ALOT of things to send to the recyclers. My bins have not arrived yet so I will be setting my recycling on the street in cardboard boxes this week. Just for fun and to make a new 'game out of it', I ought to weigh how much I recycle & compost each week VS how much is going to the landfill.
