Went to go get some fresh air yesterday afternoon between rain storms (well.. more of a drizzle VS a storm) when I was tired (and hurting) from moving stuff around, unpacking what I could.

I was wearing SweetPea and she 'hung out' in her sling while we put the grass and leaves into the new composter. I was excited about the heat of the compost already as it was steaming. I wish I knew where my soap making thermometers were at currently and I would have checked the temperature. I turned over a couple more raised beds and figured out what I want where and that I need four 2x4's which are 6-8 feet long to replace what was already there (and in bad shape), but make them taller for a couple varieties of peas and beans that I have.

I got an email from another man who is willing to give me his two composters and I know I could use one or both of them, but I will ask the community garden if they would like one of them. They could actually use a fair many of them there. I am thinking 5 composters the size of the one I have is not too many at the community garden.

I plotted out the asparagus bed. I suspect there is one there already and either it is not doing well, or the ferns have disintegrated. There are enough ferns left that I am pretty sure they are asparagus. We shall see.

Taking a look at the raspberries I was going to extend the row from the suckers which have sprouted up, but I am sure I have enough room in the current enclosed garden that I can have 2 rows the same length as the original one. Finding an organic pop tart in my coat pocket from where I stuck it when I was at the community gardens the other day, "Cyrus" and I shared it while contemplating. I need to find someone I can borrow a fence post pounder to put four wooden 3-4's posts in so trellis them a bit. I need to do some serious pruning in the raspberry patch as well. That will give me about two 25 foot rows.

Wondering.. I paced off the garden and the new section. Although it is smaller than my former garden, this one will be approximately 2,835 sf which will be ample room with the long growing season and only feeding mostly me (and canning/freezing for baby food). Up north due at my former 40 acre farm, the growing season was so short, I had to grow almost double the plants that I will have to here. I will have to re-arrange my watering system as the length of the new garden is different.

In the afternoon the teenager who cut my lawn brought a friend and they pretty much had me stand out of the way and they got all the carpet, linoleum and other debris from renovations which had been stored in the (questionable) garage into my truck for taking to the landfill tomorrow. I feel bad it is not anything but garbage, but I will try to make up for it in other ways. While they were doing that, I hauled 2,000 feet of soaker hoses around.
