Last night I was talking to 'Phoenix' from DTTR Forum on the phone and both cats and the dog started to go crazy and looking down the heater vents. I could hear something RUN from one vent to another. I could envision it looking up at up from below and I was pretty convinced it was cat size. I was sooooo hoping it was not what I was guessing it was...

I was wrong. This morning, shortly before 6 am, the house STENCHED of skunk. We almost evacuated the house. I turned off the heat and considered my options. By then out eyes were not watering anymore and I am not sure if the skunk smell has convinced me that it now smells like 90-weight gear oil or it really is some kind of oil and the darn thing was IN my furnace.

So today I am setting the trap, as well as calling animal control. It was one thing when it was living under my home and had disappeared and totally another when it is obviously eaten its way into my heating ducts. What a way to wake up. It also means I have heat loss. So I now have the furnace shut off. What a way to wake up to your day!
