Day 5 of  house renovations. I am having fun finally having something to work on. I have a couple sore muscles, but not as bad as I had thought I might.

It took me 10 hours over 2 days to rip up the carpets and lino. The first picture below shows just a wee bit of the carpet I removed from upstairs and chucked down to the main floor to then roll up into more manageable pieces.

Unlike downstairs, the upstairs had just wood under the carpet and pad. I am still carpeting over this hardwood though. It will be softer when "SweetPea" starts walking. These walls are getting painted as well. They are a depressing beige-brown.

In the guest room, under the carpet it had the original floor covering from 100 years ago. I was hoping to find something like this. It is thin like wallpaper and just went over the wooden floor except for the very edges. This is staying and going to continue to stay under the new pad and carpet. It is a shame not to show all or part of it, but it is not in its original state. But being hidden, it will continue to keep its original colors.

Today's job was installing the 1/4" plywood on the kitchen & pantry floors  to even it a little bit out. (photo's above). I ran out of 6 penny ring shank nails and I need to purchase some more of them tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon, the bathroom is being tackled.
