Ooops!!! We kept wondering what to do with the plaster/lathe wall which was badly cracked in my bedroom.. and we picked and prodded at it yesterday morning and finally the crack became a hole which was about the size of a loaf of bread and so I decided to rip that section of the wall off and redo it in sheetrock. It was actually a blessing in disguise as it verified that there is indeed insulation in the house. I did not think there would be any. I am gleeful that there is. I did the destruction while "R" went to go get the goods.. and while I worked on tiling he installed the sheetrock. The sheetrock is all up now.

I found out that I really like tiling, however I only had 14 pieces to set in. I screwed the concrete board to the floor after cutting it to size and then put the adhesive (mud) on the board and scribed it.

Instead of buying a tile cutter, I rented one from the local hardware store for $17 and made a few cuts to fill in the edges of my hearth.

I
was pretty sure I remembered how to cut tile and I did!! With no mishaps until I had to cut a thin strip and I was sure I was going to break it. I did. Oh well. It was not so much of a casualty that I cannot use it for another project someday.

I had to get the tile in however as the carpet is being laid tomorrow. I am thinking I can be REALLY careful
when I grout it.

For salvaged tile it matched the marble which was already there. I am quite pleased with how it came out.

Then we got the rest of the house cleaned and swept for the carpet layers tomorrow.
