Carpet is all laid and it makes the house smell and look so clean. The colour I hated on the landing upstairs now looks good with the carpet and the downstairs front room which was an odd colour, but interesting, now looks positively horrible now that the carpet is installed *L*. Oh well, I can work with it until I decide what colour to paint it. Mom and my neighbor are telling me it is not that bad.
It
took the crew of 3, to carpet the whole of the main house in six hours. There is
even enough left, I believe I can carpet my DTTR office. I was watching the crew
and asking questions, so I feel confident I can do that by myself if I rent the
couple tools I will require. It would be nice to have all of the floorings
surfaces in the house completed. At the moment, the office is older plywood
flooring.
My tiling job was good and even. Juan had to
do a little trimming to make the concrete board flush with the tile (I had it
1/16" past), but it was a quick knife job for him and I am so happy that the
tile, lino and carpet match very well.
Mom
was suggesting to just do the lower level of the house to save money for now,
but I am happy that I had all of it done as it is all fresh flooring, and just
like on yarn for knitting, the dyelots change, so this way all of the flooring
matches.
The house is getting closer to move in, but not quite yet. I am laying down sheets to finish painting the upstairs bedrooms. The 1/4 round needs to be put down in the downstairs bathroom (then paint the rest the kitchen colour and install in there )Then the bathroom needs to have the toilet and tub reinstalled, and then the water to the house turned back on. The kitchen cupboards need to be put back on their hinges after they got painted
Currently
the clawfoot tub is sitting in the kitchen. And the toilet in the office. No
moving in can be done until they are reinstalled.
If you have to move a cast iron tub around, a dolly is the BEST way to move it. And if you have it on newly laid linoleum, make sure to move it twice a day if it is on a dolly, so it does not leave dents on the floor.
