Today "R" and I got the toilet put back in and went to turn on the water at the main and found that the hot water heater which was supposed to be repaired before I took possession had not been fixed at all. There was a gush of water at the spigot below the hot water heater. I yelled for the main to be shut off again and we discovered the crack in the spigot. So after trying to tear apart the piping, which was impossible as when you loosen one end, it tightens on the other. So one Sawsall later.....
Then, me and SweetPea went to go find someone with a vice and a pipewrench to get the elbow off the pipe. Not knowing my town yet, I stopped by a mechanics shop, who suggested the machine shop, who tried to get the elbow off, was breaking the pipe in doing so, and told me to go to the hardware store as the pipe was now compromised. (I did not know I actually missed the smell of a machine shop).

So I talked to the manager of the hardware store and he had a pipe all my size as I was thinking I was going to have to find someone with a tap and die set. So I got everything I needed, and then went back to the house.

"R" and I got all the parts put back on and then he went to turn on the water again and I had to yell for him to turn it off again.

Problem #2..

About at my eye level and going into the top part of the tank, the copper pipe had a severe blowout in it. So "R" (my mom's significant other) has to grab his solder equipment from his house tomorrow and we work on plumbing again in the morning.

All this happened when the house was empty and we had that cold spell, but the bank I bought it from, was supposed to have had this fixed as part of the contract.

But at least we got one part of it solved.

The second upstairs bedroom got paint on the ceiling today and tomorrow I have to sand my bedroom walls and paint the baby's room.

I am still planning on moving in (as long as the water is turned on) this coming weekend.
