My
American White buck showed up from Wisconsin today on
the caravan from the East coast of the
United States to the West coast and back again to the East. This is to exchange
bloodlines in this rare breed of rabbit across the country. If you look
close
at the photo, look past the rabbits in the front of the picture and look to the
front of the vehicle.. there was barely any room for the 2 human drivers and
their
minimal gear with all the bunnies in their traveling cages.
Feed and hay were on
top of the vehicle and staying dry in their containers even though the driver
and navigator went through multiple rainstorms across alot of the country.
Rabbits were picked up and dropped off at multiple checkpoints. At this point no
one really knows how many animals made the exchange, but numbers ought to be
calculated in a few days. The drivers were hazarding a guess of 190 exchanged
thus far and they are on the loop back. Some stops were drop off one and pick up
twenty and other stops were drop of fifteen and pick up three.
My rabbit was somewhere in the middle of all the rest of the animals. At least we knew we were looking for a junior White buck and not a blue, so that helped a little. "Al" is a nice looking little fellow. But if you do not know rabbit standards, he will just look like a medium sized white bunny with pink eyes. But he will be growing for another 5 months.
