ather
warm day again. Got up this morning, took down the clothes which dried on the
line last night, put up the clothes I washed this morning, got the last 3 days
worth of laundry finally folded. But they are not put away yet, but I decided I
needed a sit down break for awhile.
Got the hogs fed, let the chickens out and carried the turkey's to their pen
since the door from their house to the pen is not yet completed. Untangled the
goat from where she wrapped around a tree last night and got her moved.
On the way back from picking up the hog feed bucket, I decided to start stacking
the firewood which got dumped out of the truck late last night before football
practice. I stacked what did not need to be split and tossed the ones that did
need to be split into a separate pile. We have about 8 cords in the woodshed and
we are gonna cram more into it and make an addition to the woodshed. We are
going to have so much firewood.. we are giving some away to a new neighbor as a
"housewarming gift" which I thought was an apt gift. FINALLY got most
of the debris picked up from the barnyard and the mechanics shoppe is almost
done. I just need to move the boxes and boxes of canning jars into the back room
of the shoppe so it does not look like we are having a garage sale. We then
just need to punch a hole into the side room of the mechanics shoppe and we can
keep the snowmobiles and dirt bikes in there to keep them out of the weather and
keep from looking like a used Recreational Vehicle lot. No.. it is not that bad,
but I like our place to look tidy and that someone cares for it.
I still have not gotten to the bottling of the wine yet. I would like to get
these 3 carboys off my kitchen counter. The wine bottles did get here 2 days ago
and sitting in the kitchen so I guess I have no excuse for not getting them done
now. We are just trying to get everything done outside before it is wintertime,
and it generally starts freezing at night around September 1st.
Evening
Update
long, but productive day. Kids were a huge help and we got several truckloads of
wood in today. The shoppe is completely redone and the upper area looks good.
There are about 40 trees down and they are being cut to length for the root
cellar. We are skidding them up tomorrow and "Kid" and I will start
barking and scribing logs tomorrow. We decided to do the original thinking on
the root cellar for now and we are utilizing all the free building materials
here. Soon we will get my blacksmithing forge up and roaring and start building
hinges and locks and nails and things.. for the cellar door.
My bf is trying to figure out how to set up the Alaskan Mill so he can have it
on a table system like a table saw. We will cut lumber and siding with it and we
want to practice on siding for the mechanics shoppe first before making siding
for the house here.
Back at it tomorrow..
