he
bear saga continues... last Wednesday I warned "Teenager" to look out
for the bear when he went down to catch the school bus and lo and behold.. they
were just at the next telephone pole away from him. Yep, there were two. A
regular sized one and the big one. He says the big one at the shoulders, is
mid-chest size on him (Teenager) and he is 6'3". We are now putting one of
the trucks down there every morning for a school bus stop.
Our garden is up and my watering system is 90% done. The beans, potatoes, onions
and brassicas are doing great. (For Newbies, Brassicas are the cabbage,
broccoli, ect family). However, I need to plant corn, carrots and beets today as
I did not want to plant any of them until the watering system was done. SO today
is that day for that and I ought to be out there and not typing as the sun is
going to be hot soon.
My friend did not pick up the goat milk yesterday for her baby and so I made
goat milk vanilla custard and chocolate goat milk fudge out of it last night. We
had company over and the fudge had not set up 100% set, so we tossed it over
vanilla ice cream and topped with organic strawberries. Yummy!!!
station for his
birthday. It has remote goodies to it to check the wind speed (which is good as
we are seriously thinking about putting in a wind-solar hybrid power system) as
well as digital rain and temperature gauges. There is no chance of him reading
this and no one else knows.. so if you guys tell him I will know what source it
came from *S*.
Oh... I guess I ought to tell you that I also started making wine this last
week. I have 2 primary fermenters worth going, but now they are in glass carboys
with fermentation locks. I will leave you in suspense as to what kinds
they are. I figure they can drink them around Christmas/Yule time. I say
"they", as I have about 1/4 cup of alcoholic beverages a year. This is
the first time I have made wine since leaving my families homeplace which had a
moderate sized vineyard. I do not know if my dad would be proud or giggle at me.
